Strava is my social media platform of choice

Forget Facebook. LinkedIn is boring. Strava is where I spend all of my time these days. Sure, I'm not connected with old high school "friends" I haven't talked to in 30 years, ex girlfriends, or random frenemies looking to make trouble. What I give up in pointless familiarity, I gain in positive, purposeful interaction with a world-wide network of fitness freaks just like myself.
In the six or so months that I've had a premium membership to Strava, I've increased my running mileage, improved my minute/mile times, and interacted with people in both my metropolitan area, as well as people from all over the world. I've even contemplated running races and joining a local running club!
Even with a free membership, Strava is an extremely versatile social media platform that allows you upload photos, manually enter activities (not limited to only running or biking), choose your level of security and privacy, and push yourself to become a better athlete. It's easy to get a little carried away at times, however. Some of the people I follow post some bizarre activities. But even those postings are far more interesting than seeing someone's third wedding photos, new car, or endless baby photos. By and large it's an a-political environment and mostly free from judgement. Time to log out of Mark Zuckerberg's universe once and for all and make the move to a social platform that can actually change your life OFFLINE!
